Quench: Shea & Aloe Lotion in Banana Blast (8.0 oz)
Yum! This lotion smells exactly how I hoped it would: just like the sweet, candied banana taste of banana flavoured Runts! In fact it smells so good that I poured some in a small container to keep in my makeup bag and use throughout the day as a little, fruity, pick-me-up. Turns out that wasn’t the best idea. This watery, oil-rich lotion tends to find its way through the crevices of any container you put it in, even its original bottle, so my little re-purposed container leaked right into my makeup bag, ultimately earning itself a permanent home on my desk. But I digress.
The Banana Blast scent isn’t long lasting at all, which in this case might be a good thing. You can indulge in the light, sweet banana scent for a moment, then go about the rest of your day smelling like a fully functioning adult, instead of one stuck reminiscing about the sweet indulgences of childhood. Unfortunately, the description of the scent as a “fragrance oil blend” is somewhat suspect; do they mean a blend of natural fragrance oils, or the always mysterious and questionable fragrance ingredient, but in oil form? Otherwise, this lotion leaves little room for concern.
The Organic Loft’s Quench: Shea & Aloe Lotion in Banana Blast also keeps skin soft and moisturized without being greasy. In other words, this is a near ideal summertime lotion for the young, and young at heart. If The Organic Loft can provide more information showing that the fragrance oil blend is clean, I’d gladly repurchase this lotion next summer.
Organic Shea Butter Soap Bar in Pure Pear (5.0 oz)
Finding pear scented bath and body products that smell good, and actually smell like pear, isn’t easy. Unfortunately, this Shea Butter Soap Bar in Pure Pear is no exception to the rule. It has a nice lather, rinses clean, and like most Organic Loft soaps, is made of mostly good ingredients. But the scent is bizarre. Wet or dry, it has a neutral oatmeal/shea butter scent. When wet it also has a subtle, odd, fruity scent, or a scent that my brain thinks is fruity because I know this soap is supposed to smell like pear. Either way, the scent isn’t exactly a selling point for this soap. I don’t regret this purchase because a bar of natural soap that doesn’t smell bad is always a good thing. It also cleans well and doesn’t leave any residue on the skin. But if you’re looking for a natural soap that smells good and actually smells like pear, this is not the product for you.
Organic Shea Butter Soap Bar in Ocean Breeze (5.0 oz)
Organic Loft’s Shea Butter Soap Bar in Ocean Breeze is by far the prettiest soap that Organic Loft sells. I wish that I’d bought more just because it’s so pretty to look at. It also helps that this soap smells amazing. The package describes it as a unisex floral scent. While the scent is unisex, it seems to be more clean and fresh, rather than floral. Regardless, this is part of a gift so I’ll have to enjoy looking at it and inhaling its cool, calming aroma for the short while that I can. I’ve never regretted a soap purchase from The Organic Loft, so I’m sure this Ocean Breeze bar will live up to the quality I’ve come to expect from this brand. But until I get to try it for myself, all I can say is that it smells as amazing as it looks.
All-Natural Shower Gel in Oatmeal & Honey (sample size)
This shower gel sample was a pleasant surprise to find in my Organic Loft order. The deep, amber scent of The Organic Loft’s All Natural Shower Gel in Oatmeal & Honey is not your typical oatmeal and honey shower gel. In a good way. A pleasantly surprising good way. In fact, a more appropriate name for this adult-scented shower gel would be Sensuous Oatmeal & Honey. It looks like the folks at Organic Loft gave this a rich brown color to match it rich amber scent. This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill neutral oatmeal & honey shower gel.
While the container is small enough that you’ll be tempted to travel with it, please don’t. This shower gel is more of a shower water; it’s a very thin and runny liquid. Combined with its dark color, I wouldn’t want this inside my suitcase. But that doesn’t mean it’s a bad shower gel. In fact, it’s a great shower gel. The thin consistency and minimal lather mean that you’ll want to use a washcloth or pouf to make sure you get the most bang for your buck. But, despite its meager appearance, the saponified oils that form the base of this little cleanser will leave your skin feeling squeaky clean and moisturized. With a scent, cleansing ability and moisturizing ability that are second to none, I’ve definitely got the full size version on my radar.
