Happy birthday to us.
Happy birthday to us.
Today, on, September 15, 2017, Chidi Beauty turns two! Chidi Beauty’s second blogiversary is a day of appreciation. Chidi Beauty’s first blogiversary fell right after our inaugural trip to Indy Beauty Expo, New York. There, I met the incredibly nice people behind some wonderful clean beauty brands – both new and familiar. Since that time, Chidi Beauty has made an effort to find and connect with more of our tribe, especially black wellness bloggers and other clean beauty aficionados of colour. In this, Chidi Beauty’s third year, our goal is to meet even more of our tribe, in person, and continue to strengthen our representation in the clean beauty world.
But, on our actual anniversary, we are stopping to appreciate those people we have connected with, and the relationships we are already building. This includes not only bloggers of colour in the clean beauty world, but also those who simply support our mission and understand the importance of representation and making clean products that meet the needs of women of colour. So, to all friends and supporters of Chidi Beauty we say “thank you.” We look forward to building this movement together, and truly celebrating green beauty for all skin tones.
We looked forward to celebrating with our tradition of a delicious slice of cake or cupcake of some sort. But after placing an order with one of our favourite bakeries, it turned out that Hurricane Irma had other plans. On Tuesday, September 5, 2017, Hurricane Irma ravaged the Virgin Islands, including St. Thomas, the birthplace and home of Chidi Beauty. So instead of sharing pictures of the delicious celebration that was planned, we decided to share pictures of the present reality of our blog’s birthplace – something that is not very common in the blogosphere. The 2017 hurricane season has been especially destructive, so please pray for all who have been affected, and help in any way that you can.
Sickle Cell Awareness Month
Oh, and September is not only our blogiversary month and the height of hurricane season – it is also Sickle Cell Awareness Month, a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. Please take a moment to learn about this devastating disease by clicking here. Spread the word. And if you feel compelled, please donate to any of the many organizations founded to support this worthy cause. You can even donate without any cost to you by signing up with iGive here, which allows you to donate while you shop.
Thank you. We appreciate you.
